5 surprising causes of headache



1. Birth control

You may have already suffered from headaches during PMS or your period. These are hormonal headaches and can be worsened by contraception like the birth control pill. When hormone levels rise and fall, it can trigger headaches. The pill may also cause constipation which in turn can cause migraines. The solution could be trying a different brand of birth control or using a lighter version, or using a condom.

2. Antibiotics

Since antibiotics not only kill bad bacteria but also good bacteria, you will probably experience constipation, again leading to a nauseating migraine. Don't take antibiotics for little things and always consult your doctor if you are not feeling well.

3. Eating too many different things

When you eat a lot of different things, logically you risk again getting constipated and therefore getting migraines. But chances are that you also might eat something you didn't know you didn't digest very well. Some of these foods are nightshades like aubergine, courgette, paprika, coffee, chocolate, milk, tomato, processed meats and cheese.

4. Food on an empty stomach

Food on an empty stomach, especially fruit like apples, can cause your body to act like it's being attacked. One example is fructose intolerance, while you may not be allergic to fruits at all. Symptoms are dizziness, extreme nausea, overproduction of saliva, drowsiness, sweating and loss of balance. A solution is to eat something more consistent right away.

5. Supplements

While multivitamins are praised for their easiness: they contain the right dose and contain almost everything you need. But taking in all these different vitamins at once might be difficult for your stomach do digest, causing bloating, constipation, nausea and dizziness. The solution might be to have your blood checked for any deficiencies so you can take more specific vitamins.
