Meek's Cutoff Early Reviews: 'Beckettian Harshness,' Williams Is 'Show-Stealingly Brilliant'

Anne Thompson, one of my favorite film industry journalists and the grand dame of her Indiewire-hosted Thompson on Hollywood column (TOH started in print, gracing the pages of The Hollywood Reporter" every week), has been so kind as to curate a prime selection of best bits from early reviews of Kelly Reichardt's "Meek's Cutoff." Read up and get excited; April 8 is only a month away!

While we're on the topic of both Anne Thompson and Michelle Williams, who is said to deliver yet another masterful performance in Reichardt's bleak Oregon Trail saga, check out Thompson's eloquent, insightful and (gasp!) fully informed sit-down interview with Williams from last December. It is easily the best, most illuminating 20-minute press junket interview I can recall seeing. Williams speaks for herself in terms of how seriously she takes her job, and so does Thompson for that matter. They're a couple of class acts.
